Thiran by Tensi.ai: licence, terms and privacy

Last updated 21 October 2026 · Applies to Thiran on the web, the desktop app and Thiran inside the Tensi platform.

Thiran is made by Tensi Pty Ltd (ABN 40 660 817 407) (“Tensi”, “we”, “us”). By using it you agree to the licence, terms and rules on this page. If you use it for an organisation, you agree on its behalf, and your organisation's agreement with Tensi (for example an order form or subscription) applies too; where the two differ, that agreement wins.

1. Licence

Thiran, including its code, design, symbol libraries, templates and documentation, is owned by Tensi and protected by copyright and other laws. It is licensed, not sold.

Tensi grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Thiran for your own work or your organisation's work, for the plan and number of users you have, while your access is active.

You must not:

Thiran includes open-source components. Each is used under its own licence, listed in the Notice; nothing here limits your rights under those licences.

We may update Thiran from time to time, including the desktop app, which updates itself. We may change or remove features, but we will not remove a core feature of a paid plan during its term without notice.

2. Terms of use

Your account

Keep your sign-in details private and tell us straight away about any unauthorised use. You are responsible for what happens in your account and for the people you invite.

Your files and markups

Your drawings, documents, markups and measurements stay yours. Files you open from your computer stay on your computer unless you choose to save them to a Thiran project or a connected drive. When you do store or share files with Tensi, you give us permission to host, copy, process and show them only as needed to provide Thiran to you and the people you share with. You confirm you have the right to use the files you upload.

Measurements, takeoff and AI

Measurements, quantities, scales, sheet numbers, change detection and Thiran AI results are tools to help you work. They depend on the drawings, the scale and how the tools are used, and can be wrong. Check them before relying on them for pricing, ordering, design or construction. Thiran AI features send the content you choose to analyse to our AI service providers for processing; they process it for us and do not use it to train their models.

Fees

Paid plans are charged as set out in your plan or your organisation's agreement. Unless that says otherwise, fees are in Australian dollars, payable in advance and not refundable except as required by law.

Availability and support

We work to keep Thiran available and fast, but it may sometimes be interrupted, for example for maintenance. Keep your own copies of important files.

Ending

You can stop using Thiran at any time. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms or the acceptable use rules, or if your plan ends. When access ends you can still export your files for 30 days, unless the law or a court order prevents it.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded. Where the law allows, Thiran is provided “as is”, Tensi is not liable for indirect or consequential loss (including lost profit, lost data or delay), and Tensi's total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim, or, for goods or services covered by the Australian Consumer Law, to supplying them again or paying for that.

Changes and law

We may update these terms; we will show the new date here and tell account holders of important changes. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and the courts of Victoria have jurisdiction.

3. Acceptable use

When you use Thiran, including Live Markup sessions and shared projects, you must not:

We may remove content or suspend access that breaks these rules. To report misuse or a security problem, email we@tensi.ai.

4. Privacy

We handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

Files you open from your own computer are processed in your browser or the desktop app and are not sent to us. Preferences, tool settings and kept copies of recent files are stored on your device.

Where it is stored and who processes it

Accounts and stored files are kept in data centres in Sydney, Australia. We use service providers for hosting, sign-in, email and Thiran AI processing; they act on our instructions and protect the information. Some may process data outside Australia, for example AI processing, and we take reasonable steps so they handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

How long we keep it

We keep account information while your account is active and stored files until you or your organisation delete them, then remove them within 90 days, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.

Your choices

You can see and change your account details in the app, ask for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct or delete it, or complain about how we handled it, by emailing we@tensi.ai. If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
